Yoga

The word “yoga” means “union” and refers to the spiritual union between the mind and the body. By controlling the breath and holding the body in steady poses or “asanas”, yoga creates harmony within the body. Asanas are specifically designed to sculpt the body, release muscular tension, and tone internal organs. By linking breath with movement, yoga strengthens the mind-body connection. Regular participants benefit from less stress and anxiety, a centered mind, and an enhanced sense of well being. Health benefits include lower blood pressure, increased strength and flexibility, better stress management, and long-term weight loss. Regular yoga practice at Yogshivir will cultivate mindfulness and presence for a healthier lifestyle.

All skill levels are welcome at Yogshivir. If you are new to yoga, this is a great place to begin your practice in Colorado Springs. Bring your mat, an open mind, and a willingness to discover new possibilities. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Our experienced instructors provide assists & adjusts to support your practice and help you create optimal alignment in each pose while staying safe. You are welcome to try any class at Yogshivir. We encourage you to do as much as you feel comfortable doing and know that you can take a rest in child’s pose or savasana at any time.

We encourage all yogis to move towards a mindful practice that balances the physicality & concentration of asanas with breath work (pranayama) and meditation. Whether you are new to yoga or have made it a part of your lifestyle for many years, we invite you to enter our Centre with a beginner’s mind and be open to the possibilities of your practice.

At Yogshivir, we practice the intention of yoga by treating everyone with respect and love. Our instructors have a diverse background in yogic philosophy, structural alignment, posture modifications, injury recovery & rehabilitation. We are passionate about helping students deepen their mind/body connection, detoxify their bodies, heal from past physical injuries and emotional trauma, and empower personal growth.
